GO!

This word is so small that we so much like to overlook it. It appears many times in the Bible but its significance has not been realized by many. Whether by ignorance or by rebellion I don’t know. May be it’s because it destroys the foundations of religion. May be it’s because it has no mercy for status quo. Or may be it’s the fear that, if we took a little interest in it, our structures will look completely different from how they are today. This little word gives meaning to scripture. Without it, the scripture means something completely different. We have become comfortable omitting it while reading the scripture, because if we included it in our reading, it will shake our comfort zones.

However, this little word is the distinction between right way and wrong way. It’s the difference between obedience and disobedience. This two-lettered word is the power behind fruitfulness. Moreover, it’s the difference between religion and truth.

When Jesus talks about fruit, miracles, or service, He uses the word Go.

Mrk 16:15

And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Mrk 16:17

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

In other words, the power and the glory that we have so much desired to see in our churches is tied to the word go. "And these signs shall follow..." You can't follow a parked thing. There's movement in 'follow'. In other words signs and miracles are evident among preachers in motion. We get it all wrong, all the time. It’s time we changed the method if we really need to see different results. We must get back to God’s method. We have been praying; “God show us and we will go”, while all along, God has been saying; “Go and I will show you."

“The light that shines farthest, shines brightest at home.”

Our light has been dimmed by our immobility.

When Jesus was in this world, He was always on the move. The bible says: “For the Son of man came to seek and to save that which was lost.” No seeking can be done in a state of immobility. He was busy seeking the lost, the desperate, the needy, the hungry and thirsty. That’s what He came for, and He would eventually die for them. We are not found because we sought Him, no! We are saved because He sought us. He came right into the darkness that had encompassed us and sought us out. There were many obstacles working against Him, but that did not stop Him. He broke through our anti-God traditions and pulled us out.

When it was finally time to go back to heaven, he transferred His mandate to us – the church. Therefore, He expects us to do as He did. It’s no wonder therefore that when He was being taken up, His last words were; “Go ye therefore…” Why didn’t Jesus just say; make disciples, teach, preach etc. It is because without; “Go ye therefore…” there will be no disciples. There can be no accessing nations without going. Your teaching will have so little or no impact without going. There are no miracles without going. Those who need your service require you to move.

Joh 15:16

Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

Jesus is always inserting this word where we don't want it. Wouldn't it be nice to just say; I ordained you to bear fruit? And is that not how we understand it? But rather He says, "..... that ye should go and bring forth fruit ..." What about the experience of unanswered prayers? Check it out in the verse above. Still tied to going. ...go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

God will lift you from the deepest pit, but won't lift you from your comfortable arm chair

The problem about your fruitlessness and dryness isn't what you thought it is. Your immobility is the problem. And if you won't go in person, let your substance go for you. Stop wasting resources in covetous projects they call ministry, give it to the goers, and watch what happens.
